Donald Fraraccio

Donald G. Fraraccio was born with his identical twin brother, Ronald, in Alliance, Ohio in 1935. Donald lost his mother Ann (Trombitas) to Lupus at the age of 12. He and his 3 siblings spent their hours after school working for their father, Albert, in their family business, Eagle Bakery. Donald graduated from Alliance High School where he was Class President, in 1952. Following he received a Master's Degree in teaching. During this time he was a passionate activist with the civil rights movement of Martin Luther King Jr. After college Donald joined the seminary at Glenmary Home Missioners. During his 2-3 year tenure there were strong requirements to do manual labor in addition to developing the Catholic faith in impoverished communities and those absent of faith. Don developed his lifelong dedication to serving the spiritual and material needs of anyone through this life experience. Following, Don served as a Chaplin Assistant for the Army in Puerto Rico then went on as a teacher before he met his beloved, soon to be wife Carole (Bordash). Donald and Carole married in 1969 and started their family in 1974. From that point on Donald dedicated his life to avidly and faithfully serving his family, church and community. Donald was a parishioner at St. Sebastian for over 40 years and served as an usher, eucharistic minister, commentator, grounds crew member and helped with various events and meetings. Don was ardently committed to his duty of helping others regardless of any disruptions it may cause. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, an activist with the Right to Life cause, helped with homecare for elderly widows and loved meeting new people at local weddings and funerals. Donald always thought of others before himself, disregarded and mocked pretense and had infinitely abundant energy and determination. He could be equally gentle and serious as he was forceful and a jokester. He was handsome, cheerful, selfless, compassionate, passionate, impatient, mischievous, charming, trusted everyone and always had a smile on his face. Donald was filled with the joy of life and everything was a celebration, mission or adventure. In his later years, due to the development of Alzheimer's, he lost his ability to drive. Rain or shine he refused to let this diminish his lifelong dedications and commitments to his family, church and community. His family extends their heartfelt gratitude to those in the community who helped with his creative transportation systems. Donald is preceded in death by his brothers Albert and Ronald and survived by his wife Carole), sister Carole Pfau, daughter Sara, son Paul and grandchildren Aiden and Elijah. Friends may call on Sunday from 4-6PM at Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY, 3475 Copley Rd. Please join the family for a Mass of Christian Burial on Monday, October 29, 2018 at 11AM at St. Sebastian Catholic Church. Private family interment in Holy Cross Cemetery.
