Donald Edwin Dugan, age 92 of Akron passed away March 23, 2022. He was born in Akron, graduated from St. Mary's High School where he excelled at football. Don served our country in the U.S. Army in Germany during the Korean Conflict. He was self-employed for over 50 years in the carpet industry. After the service he settled in Stow to raise his 8 children and was active at Holy Family Catholic Church and School. Don spent his retirement years in Akron caring for his home built by his grandparents in 1906. He loved gardening and spending time with his family.
Preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Genevieve; sister, Mary Ann Murphy; brother, Thomas Dugan; and Aunt Catherine Reidy; he is survived by his children; Marie Dugan Pederson, Dona Dugan O'Donnell, Genevieve (Keith) Mahoney, Mary (Michael) Linscott, Nancy (Curt) Parsley, Kathleen Dugan Frohnapfel, Donald (Julie) Dugan and Thomas (Andrea) Dugan; grandchildren, Carissa, Laura, Katherine, Brandon, Lindsay, Tiffany, Erika, Brooke, Katelyn, Ryan and Michael, 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be 12:00pm to 2:00pm Sunday (March 27) followed by a memorial service at 2:00pm at the Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St. Akron, Ohio 44304. Private interment at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
