Don Clapper

Don Robert Clapper, age 95 of Copley, Ohio passed away on January 14, 2023. Don was born on August 31, 1927 in Loyal Oak, Ohio to Clarence and Hazel Clapper. He graduated from Norton High School, then served in the US Army, 82nd Airborne Division just as World War II was ending. He worked for the B.F. Goodrich Company for a short time before co-founding the Senn & Clapper Cabint Shop in 1958. Upon retirement, he and his wife of 74 years, Shirley, moved to North Port, Florida where they spent the past 17 years. Don was happiest when surrounded by members of his large family.

He is preceded in death by his parents, and by sisters, Betty Rose and Edna and brothers, Whitney, Glenn, Eugene, Harry, Richard, John and Paul.

Don will be deeply missed by his children, David (Karen Bates) Clapper, Thomas (Janis) Clapper, Michael (Luzia Ornelas) Clapper, Lynn (Ted) Goodyear and Patricia (Ken) Skelly. As well as by his grandchildren, Lee (Jamie) Clapper, Michael Clapper, Jennifer (Craig) Heinrich, Jeff Clapper, Matt Clapper, Jessica Goodyear, Todd Goodyear, Brooke (Matt Bramley) Cowgill, Stephen (Meggon) Skelly and Paul (Rose) Skelly. He'll also be missed by his 15 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be 4-6pm Thursday, January 19, 2023 at the Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, Ohio, followed by a memorial service at 6:00pm.
