Don W. Carlson 86 passed away on Thursday March 31 2011. Don is survived by his loving wife Maryanne of 34 years. He was preceded in death by his first wife Evelyn Carlson and survived by their daughters Susan (John) Goldsberry and Dona (Roy) Powell; granddaughter Megan (Mark) Skogstad and grandson Matthew (Marisa) Goldsberry. He also leaves 5 great grandchildren and sister-in-law Joan Carlson. Don graduated from Stow high school in 1942. He was a star athlete lettering in football basketball and baseball. Don was also a WWII veteran serving in the Army Air Corps in England. He was retired from Williams and Company as a manager of the Akron office. Golfing with his brothers and friends was one of Don's favorite pastimes. At the age of 52 he began downhill skiing with his wife Maryanne. Don was often seen on the Towpath riding his bike. He had a particular interest in history and biographies. He was a faithful Chapel member where he served as a Deacon taught English as a second language to international students for many years and volunteered in the kitchen. You would find him at Panera every morning having breakfast with Maryanne and his many friends. A Memorial Service will be held on Monday April 4 2011 10 AM at The Chapel in University Park with Pastor Todd McKenney officiating.
