Don 'Gail' Bailey, 84, passed away Wednesday, December 9, 2015 after a nearly four year battle with several illnesses. Born in Parkersbug, WV, he lived most of his life in Akron, Ohio. He was a Korean War Veteran, serving in the US Air Force in Amarillo, TX. He was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church. After his military service, he began a career with Firestone Tire & Rubber Company in Akron. He left Firestone in 1978 and after working for several companies started his own courier business, which he continued to manage until recently. An avid bowler from his teenage years, Gail was honored with induction into the Tri-County Bowling Hall of Fame in 2003. He bowled several 300 games in his long bowling tenure and touched many lives with his quiet but kind and jovial manner. Up until this year, he continued to bowl twice a week. He is survived by his wife of more than 63 years, Dodie M. Bailey; daughters, Lyn Spellman and Lisa Bailey; and sons, Jeff and Dan Bailey. He was preceded in death by parents, Howard and Delia Bailey. There will be no wake or services at this time. A memorial mass will be scheduled at a later date.
