Dolores Jean Robertson of Wadsworth, Ohio passed Friday, May 1, 2015 at Akron General Hospital. Dolores was born in Detroit to the late Anthony Frank Szynski & Harriet Gertrude Pawlak. At 18, Dolores graduated from Sweetest Heart of Mary High School in Detroit. She attended business school for 2 years and worked as a secretary/clerk in the Detroit area. She met her future husband, James S. Robertson on a blind date in 1949. They married September 2, 1950 in Detroit before moving to Akron, Ohio. They were married 63 years when James predeceased her. In those years they raised 4 children and travelled extensively with Jim's job, living in India and France for several years, as well as California, Kentucky, & Pennsylvania. In 1968, Dolores and Jim settled in the Akron area. Dolores chose to return to work to help pay for her children's college tuition. She retired from Goodrich in 1988 after 20 years of service. Jim and Dolores spent their retirement years in South Carolina and Florida. Dolores has been described as fun loving with a zest for life and a strong sense of family. She loved visiting with her 7 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews whether in person, on the phone or via email. Her hobbies were reading mysteries, shopping, and trying new restaurants. Dolores was predeceased by her husband James S. Robertson and siblings, Allen H. Szynski, Ralph A. Szynski, Elsie Cieszynski (Harry), and Norman Shelby. Dolores is survived by her daughters Christine Nagy (Jim) of South Carolina; Laura Gretzinger (George) of Swanton, Ohio; Phyllis Robertson of Akron; son James R. Robertson (Lynne) of Akron, grandchildren Kate Perrine (Tim Leftwich), Heidi Frankenhauser (Mara Boyd), Emily Rapposelli (Coldon), Chelsea Robertson (Scott Jewell), Brittany Robertson, & Hayleigh Robertson, Nick Frankenhauser (Maddy) and great-grandsons Nolan & Ethan Frankenhauser. Dolores will be interred with her husband at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio with a private family ceremony on May 13th. A Memorial Service will be held for family and friends at 11 am on Saturday, May 30th, 2015 at Faith Lutheran Church, 2726 West Market St, Akron, Ohio 44333. Pastor Jean M. Hansen will preside.
