Dolores Mitchell

Dolores Louise Mitchell, age 94, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2023. She was born on July 5, 1928 in Columbus, Ohio and moved to Ira, Ohio as a young child. She had many happy memories of growing up in the Cuyahoga Valley surrounded by her family, grandparents and relatives, She attended Bath School and graduated in 1946. In 1947 she married Franklin Mitchell and they had four children. She was married to Franklin for 72 years. She loved animals, nature, and studying the Scriptures. She spent most of her life taking care of family members, often in very challenging circumstances, but she never lost her strong faith. Her greatest goal in life was always to serve the Lord and to help others. Those who met her were touched by her kindness and sweet, selfless spirit. The last years of her life were spent in her home, surrounded by her daughter and loving caregivers.

Preceded in death by her sister, Carolyn Grizzanti, her brother, Donald Hine, her husband, Franklin, and her son, Thomas. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie, daughter, Elaine, son, Ross and her cat, Charlie. Friends may call between 9:30am and 10:30am on Saturday, February 25 with the service to follow at 10:30am. The location is Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Road, Copley, Ohio 44321. Interment will take place at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Wings of Rescue, an agency that relocates homeless pets or to a humanitarian agency helping recent earthquake victims.
