Dennis A. Siwik, 79, died Sunday, August 11, 2019, following a nine-month battle with leukemia. Dennis 'Denny' was a life-long bachelor. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nick and Anne Siwik, and his older brother, Richard. He is survived by Barbara Siwik, his sister-in-law, Mark Siwik (wife Lori), Gary Siwik, Lisa Siwik and John Siwik, his nephews and niece, and his great-niece and great-nephew, Melissa and Maxwell Siwik. Denny was born on May 14, 1940, in Akron, Ohio. He was a proud graduate of Archbishop Hoban High School (class of 1959). Denny retired from The Firestone Tire and Rubber Company and the Ohio National Guard. Denny led a full life that revolved around family, friends, and his numerous passions which included the parish community of St. Bernard, the Polish American Citizens Club of Akron, and the Cleveland Indians (long-time season ticket holder). Denny was an accomplished bowler. He collected jukeboxes and loved barbershop music. He belonged to the Akron Derbytown Chorus and The Men of Independence chapters of the Barbershop Harmony Society. Denny also belonged to the Knights of Columbus, Council #3410. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, August 21 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St., in Akron, where the Knights of Columbus Council #3410 will pray the Rosary at 6:30 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Bernard Catholic Church, 44 University Ave., in Akron. Interment will follow at Northlawn Memorial Gardens, 4274 State Road in Peninsula. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dennis Siwik (class of 1959) may be made to Archbishop Hoban High School, 1 Holy Cross Blvd., Akron, OH 44306.
