David Stokes of Akron passed away Wednesday November 21 2012 at the age of 58. He was born on August 28 1954 to Richard Stokes and Phyllis York. David had a calling to serve the Lord. He answered by becoming a member of the Bridging the Gap Ministries and volunteering his time and talents to help others in the community. His volunteer work gave him a sense of purpose and fulfillment. He grew strong in his faith and leaned on God family and the church community when he felt weak. David inspired those who knew and loved him. David volunteered transporting food from food banks for distribution to centers feeding the hungry. He also served at the Peter Marin Center (The Catholic Center) CORE Furniture Bank who serves Summit County Sterling Sober Resources Center and Trinity United Church of Christ assisting with dinners and working in the clothing room. David will be truly missed. He leaves behind his mother Phyllis York and sisters Pam Merrow and Vickie (Ron) O'Farrell; nieces Rachel Stokes Danielle (Bryan) Dutton and Tessie Cross; nephews Joseph (Michelle) Sinor and John O'Farrell. Grand nephews and nieces include Dean Jr. Chastity Sonny Gadge Joey Brenden Christian Jon Emmilya Ethan Bella and Michael. He is preceded in death by his father Richard and his sister Christine Stokes. Memorial services will be conducted by Pastor Mary Michel on Monday December 3 2012 6 PM at Bridging the Gap Ministries 1662 state road Cuyahoga Falls 44223.
