David Shawn McIntosh, born September 15, 1959, passed away suddenly last week on November 23, 2017, at the age of 58. He survived a spinal cord injury in 1983 and continued to persevere for 34 years. David loved and coached baseball for many years at Firestone Park and Ellet. He will be lovingly remembered by his son, Connor, and sisters, Paula, Connie, Katy, and Missy. A celebration of life service will be held at the Akron Firefighter's Credit Union, located at 161 Massillon Rd. Akron, Ohio 44312 on December 2 from 3pm-8pm. Come share your stories of David. To our beloved David, You were the first person I called when I passed my final exam in nursing. You gave me such encouragement. I want to thank you for always being a strong support system for me in my life. I ran to you for guidance and by making me stop and reflect you would analyze the situation and guide me. You were protective and willing to come to my rescue when I had an issue. You always talked about our childhood and recounted memories of Christmas with all eight of us when you and John got a ping pong table, Mom's cooking, and the edible Christmas tree. I love the story of how you were the first to discover that Santa wasn't real and Dad took you aside and told you to be supportive and not tell the others. You held to your word and kept it a secret. I remember when you were a senior in high school, you were selected to model tuxes for the Prom and you wore a different one to school every day of a week. I thought you were so handsome. Frankly all my friends and their older sisters thought you were a dream boat, hence the house got tee-peed with Big Mac boxes and toilet paper. David, you were never angry, never bitter, and never had anything negative to say. You triumphed and overcame a spinal cord injury, became a baseball coach, graduated from Akron University with a degree in photography, and became a father. Your positive attitude influence everyone else around you and I am so proud to be your sister. I will forever remember the last kiss on your face and the hug we gave each other. Dave, my big brother, I love you deeply and I promise to crank up the music and live happy. ~Forever your little sis, Katy 'Keep your heart full of love and your mind questioning everything,' was David's philosophy. He never accepted the status quo of things, but like his photography, he tried to capture the world for what it truly was. A conspiracy theorist some might call him, but a better term is truth seeker. Conspiracies are not theories, they are theorems. They can be proven by the simple fact that organized evil has a history. Question everything. ~Love, Missy David I love you! Life can be so beautiful but it can also rip your heart out! You not only were my brother, but also my friend. I will miss you every day for the rest of my life! Rest peacefully my dear brother, and I will see you again! ~Love you, Connie My dear David. You are no longer in any pain and for that I am grateful. You will be sorely missed. You shared your light, your love, and your laughter and your positive outlook with so many who are better for it. I imagine you are in heaven pitching a no hitter. Rest easy sweet Boy. ~Love, Sheri
