David Hughes

It is with both sadness and reflection that we announce the passing of David E. Hughes who fought a long and hard battle with cancer. He passed away on March 20, 2025 at the age of 70 surrounded by his family.

Born on May 16, 1954 in Cleveland, he lived a life marked by a fierce independence and an unwavering determination. Though he could be difficult at times, Dave was a person who always spoke his mind and had strong convictions. This made him both challenging and memorable to those who knew him.

Throughout his illness, Dave faced each day with a strength and tenacity that left a lasting impression on those around him. Despite the difficulties that arose in life, Dave never gave up, and fought until the end, showing resilience even in the face of adversity.

Dave is survived by his wife Deborah; son, Ian; daughter, Emily; mother, Barbara; sisters, Liz (Chris) Marzak, Colleen (Gary) Reese, Polly Hughes and Becky (Bruce) Lambert and many nieces and nephews.

While he may not have always been easy to understand, the fight against cancer showcased his courage and determination in ways words cannot fully capture.

A private Celebration of Life will be held to honor Dave's life and legacy at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stewarts Caring Place or St. Jude.
