David O. Crow age 90 died on January 30 2010. He was born on September 21 1919 and was a lifelong resident of Akron. He graduated from East High School in 1937 where he was vice-president of his class. He served four years in the Pacific during World War II in the 34th Engineer Combat Battalion seeing action at Pearl Harbor Saipan and Okinawa. He received a battlefield commission to lieutenant at Saipan. Dave returned from the war to marry Gwendolyn McClellan on April 14 1946. He attended college on the GI Bill and graduated from the University of Akron in 1949 with a B.S. in industrial engineering. He spent most of his career with B. F. Goodrich retiring as director of personnel in 1984. He was past president of the University Club (1979) and past master of the W. Edwin Palmer Masonic Lodge (1980). Dave was a devoted husband to Gwen for 62 years before her death on February 5 2008. His sister K. Ann Jacobs of Florida died on January 8 2010. Dave loved fishing golfing and spending time with his family. He particularly took great pride and joy in his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by son Jeffrey (Terry) Crow of Cary N.C.; daughter Deborah (Paul) Anderson of Akron; grandchildren Jennifer and David Crow of Cary N.C.; Jason (Alison) Anderson of Avon Lake Ohio; Kevin (Melissa) Anderson of Maineville Ohio; Christopher (Jana) Anderson of Massillon Ohio; and great grandchildren Lauren Kyle Jacob and Isabella Anderson. Private inurnment will take place at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. A Memorial Service will be held on Friday February 12 2010 at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church of Akron 292 E. Market Street with the Rev. Dr. Jay Marshall Groat and the Rev. Duane K. Angel officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the First Congregational Church of Akron.
