David Bochkor

April 17, 1929 — September 20, 2014

David A. Bochkor, 85, passed away Saturday September 20, 2014. He was born in Cleveland and had lived in Dallas, TX for over 40 years. David retired from the Army Air Force Exchange Service after a distinguished career that spanned 30 years working in the motion picture theater part of the business. Dave was involved in the scheduling, distribution and showing of entertainment films at military installations. He held executive positions at regional offices in Morocco, New York, Vietnam, and Germany. He also lived in Japan for a number of years. The last dozen years of his career were spent in the Exchange's European headquarters and the worldwide headquarters in Dallas, TX, where he helped contract with Hollywood for the films to be shown on the military circuits. Dave was fluent in French and German, spoke some Spanish, Japanese and a little Hungarian. His first love in sports was tennis, at which he excelled, winning tournaments and trophies through much of his life. In retirement he loved to golf with his friends being quite proud when he broke 100. His personality and effervescence made him a prime invitee to anyone's cocktail party. He was the kind of person you liked to be around and in turn who you wanted to be in your group. He could keep a group in laughter with his game of charade interpretations. He was preceded in death by brothers Stephen and Richard and great great nephew Isaac. He is survived by sister-in-law Margaret Bochkor; niece Georgette Bochkor-Winkley; nephews James (Kathy) Bochkor, Christopher Bochkor, Richard (Elizabeth) Grizer, Lawrence (Stacy) Grizer and many great nieces and nephews, Josh, Alexandria, Christian, Jackie, Diane, Mark, Kyle, Katrina, Kayla, Nicholas, Lucas, Logan, very special great great nephews Sammy and Matthew and many friends. He was thoughtful and caring in his role of godfather to Jennifer Green-Moneta. The family will receive friends Thursday September 25, 6-8 pm at the Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd., Copley. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday September 26, 11:00 am at St Sebastian Catholic Church. Interment Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
