He worked for Babcock & Wilcox and Gould Ocean Systems until he joined Don Williams and Associates in Medina Ohio where he worked for 25 years until his retirement in 1999. The values learned during his formative years from family church education Boy Scouts and athletics was a testimony of his life. He passed his values on to his family. By example he taught his children to love Jesus and the importance of family. He encouraged his children to pursue their dreams and provided opportunities for success. He was a teacher a coach a scoutmaster a peace maker; always encouraging always consistent always forgiving and most of all always loving. The Boy Scouts was a gift that he received from his father and passed on to his son. As a boy he excelled as a scout and as a young man he worked as a counselor at Camp Manatoc developing friendships and values that lasted his lifetime. He was a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow and was a member of the ceremony team. Scouting played such an important role in the man that he became; without thought he exemplified the Scout Law which reflected his Christian values. A Scout is: ''Trustworthy Loyal Helpful Friendly Courteous Kind Obedient Cheerful Thrifty Brave Clean and Reverent''. Darrell was a tireless ''helper''. He served on his church's building committee planning for the future and keeping His Lord's house in good repair. He spent countless hours lending a hand to others visiting praying for and with friends and family often with his tool bucket in hand. Later in life Darrell's heart for God spirit for fun and desire to help others lead him to his ministry as ''Pogo'' the clown. Darrell and Casey or ''Pogo'' and ''Squeaky'' could often be found at nursing homes church affairs hospitals Christmas and birthday parties doing skits magic tricks creating balloon animals or stirring a pot of ''Salvationa Stew'' with his canoe paddle. ''Pogo'' continuously found new ways to share God's Word through this ministry and enjoyed passing on his ministry to his daughter Vicki or ''Coco and hopefully ''Jimmy Bob''. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers cards continuous concerns and the heartfelt willingness to help these last two months.
