Daniel L. Canale

Daniel L. Canale, age 95, passed away peacefully on Thursday evening, August 3, 2023 after a period of declining health. He was born in Akron, Ohio to Daniel Sr. and Hila Canale.

Along with his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his loving wife, Jean, of 62 years, and his daughter, Mary Jo Canale-Johnson in 2021.

Daniel is survived by his children, Theresa (Larry) Tremaine of Michigan, Paula Canale-Browning of Tallmadge, Daniel P. (Kim) Canale of New York, John (Cathy) Canale of Columbus, Susan Harb of Akron, Mark (Tina) Canale of Alliance, and Joseph (Jodie) Canale of Fairlawn; grandchildren, Angela (Harry), Scott (Lisa), Eric (Candace), Mark (Lynn), Gina (Brandon), Jessica (Adam), Erin, Ana, Ami, Lisa (Ronnie), Ryan (Kristin), Michael (Jodi), Kellie (Dennis), Tyler (Emily), Abbey, Hannah (Cody), Sarah (Ashton), Nicholas, Sophia; great grandchildren, Shai, Marissa, Daniel, Mark Otto, Hunter, Kira, Logan, Lexie, Griffin, Brennen, Alex, Jackson, Lauryn, Caitlyn, Ethan, Harper, Jenna, Adam, Taylor, and the triplets, Carter, Lexie, Reilley; sister, Rosemarie Harkins; and several nieces and nephews.

Daniel was a WWII veteran of the U.S. Navy and served on the USS Philippines. He was employed for over 50 years at Ohio Edison/First Energy as a Electrical Designer. Daniel was a lifetime member of St. Sebastian Parish. He was awarded the Pope Pius Award for his dedication to the church. Daniel enjoyed life to the fullest and loved meeting new people.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Road, Copley. A Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11:00 am on Thursday, August 10, 2023 at St. Sebastian Parish, 476 Mull Ave. Akron. A private family burial will be at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
