Dallas Beckett

Dallas Gene Beckett, 85, passed away suddenly, on February 16, 2018. Gene was born February 4th, 1933. He graduated from East High School and worked for the City of Akron where he proudly retired at age 51. Gene made the most of retirement as he did everything else in life. He was very proud of the fact that he worked out 6 days a week, almost until the end. He was a member of the Akron Art Museum, Cleveland Museum of Art, Stan Hywet and was a very active volunteer in the community. He enjoyed making people laugh with his quick wit, often breaking into dance. He loved being outside and enjoyed the many parks in our community. Gene had a passion and love for life and the people around him. His motto was 'ALWAYS DO MORE THAN YOU HAVE TO'. Gene is survived by his 2 daughters, Patti Lasko and husband Eric, Andrea Stevens and husband, Gary, son, Mitchell Beckett and wife Diane; grandchildren Emily and Michael Lasko, Wesley Stevens, Samuel, Jonah and Faith Beckett. A special thank you to his daughter, Andrea for making sure the last 7 months of his life were full of laughter, fun and love. A private Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial Donations can be made in his name to Summit Metro Parks Foundation. Gene would want you to go enjoy the park today. His daughters have arranged for a bench to be placed in the Metro Parks in his honor.
