Cynthia (Cindy) A. Howard, 71, died Monday, March 19, 2018 in her home in Akron, Ohio. Cindy was a Union Steward, a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society, and a friend of Dr. Bob for many years. Cindy proudly earned her Masters degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from The University of Akron in 1994, and got her LICDCIII. She worked for many years as a beloved counselor at the Interval Brotherhood Home (IBH) and was deeply committed to the rehabilitation and empowerment of the women she worked with. In addition to her work as a counselor, Cindy was actively involved in the lives of her children, grandchildren, and nieces and nephews and enjoyed spending many of her days with her younger sister Debby. Her lifelong dedication to care and support extended to her family, and she is remembered as unconditionally generous, loving, and supportive. Cindy is survived by her husband William Howard, sister Deborah (Brian) Porter, brothers Rick Whitney and Greg (Jan) Whitney, children Kim (Josh) Zeffer, Artie (Jackie) Romanski, and Aimee (Dee) Trunko, grandchildren Nicole Romanski, Kaylee Romanski, Andrew Romanski, Emily Trunko, Rachel Trunko, and Ethan Trunko, Courtney Trunko, Katie Trunko, and Ashley Trunko, great granddaughter to be Cruz Maya Bell, nieces Whitney Porter, Liz Whitney, and Emma Whitney, cousins Denise and Jeanie, and her beloved cat, who she simply called 'My Boy.' Cindy's family will forever remember her love of Christmas time, angels, and all things magical. She will be held in all of their hearts as the greatest cheerleader and most loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and aunt, and she will be dearly missed by all who had the opportunity to know her. Our lives were enriched by knowing her. In the words of one of her favorite songs, we know Cindy is comfortably 'in the arms of the angels' now and that she is shining down on all who hold her memory in their hearts. Calling hours will be held at Hummel Funeral Home at 500 E Exchange St, Akron, OH 44304 on Friday, March 23 from 4-7pm with service to follow at 7pm.
