Claudio Caponi

Claudio Caponi, age 84, passed on November 29, 2016 at his home in Tallmadge, Ohio. He was born March 31, 1932 in Pretare Province of Ascoli Piceno, Italy. He was an intense active person with a lust for life. He retired as a proud member of Ironworkers Local 17. He was an avid Buckeyes, Cavs and St. Vincent St. Mary Wrestling Fan. A voracious reader and loved crossword Puzzles, cards and Bocce. In recent years, he wintered in Florida and spent summers at Villa Caponi the family home where he was born in Italy. He is preceded in death by his parents Giovanni and Letizia Caponi and brother Antonio Caponi. He is s survived by brother, Damiano (Pat) Caponi, his devoted partner and companion Diane Zupke, sons John (Ruby) and their 3 children and 6 grandchildren: Claude (Annie), Marco (Charlotte) and their 4 children and 6 grandchildren: Gino (Kim) and their 4 children and 6 grandchildren; 2 daughters, Claudia Renea Shimer and her 2 children and 1 grandchild: Gina Caponi and her 7 children and 19 grandchildren; totaling 6 children, 19 grandchildren and 38 great grandchildren for Claudio. Funeral service will be 11:00 Monday, December 12, at the Hummel Funeral Home 500 E. Exchange St. Akron, OH, where family will greet friends one hour prior. Claudio's wishes, in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Vincent-St. Mary's Wrestling wall of fame
