Chester Greene, 90, passed away July 28th, 2019, surrounded by loving family. He was born December 10th, 1928 in Akron, Ohio to the late Chester E. and Josephine (Gilliam) Greene. He will be dearly missed by his beloved wife Gwen of 63 years; his children Richard (Emelina) of San Diego, CA, Jeffrey of Akron, OH, and Vicki Niski (Marc) of Bradenton, FL; sisters, Margaret Rhodes of La Belle, FL, Jewel Reynolds of Akron, OH, and Anita Slawter (Jerry) of Munroe Falls, OH; brother, Charles Milton Green of Akron, OH; grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and, a lifetime of friends. Chet graduated from Kenmore High School in 1948 and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. Following the war, he returned to Akron where he worked at the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company for over 25 years. Chet was a Mason and an active member of the Akron Baptist Temple for over 60 years. He believed in the Lord and followed his faith for a lifetime. A generous heart and caring spirit, his greatest joy was sharing good times with family. He was a devoted husband, father and brother; he will be deeply missed by all. We will be comforted as he continues on, forever, our guardian angel. Calling hours will be Wednesday, July 31, 2019 from 4-6 pm at Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY, 3475 Copley Rd. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 am with Pastor Mike Prebynski officiating. Burial will take place on Friday at 9:30 am at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
