Charles B. Greathouse, Jr., 73, a native of Akron and a resident of Mogadore, died peacefully Friday, February 06, 2015 after a long fight with stage IV lymphoma. Charles was a 1959 graduate of Archbishop Hoban High School and a veteran of the United States Air Force. He began work for Ohio Bell, and for 38 years worked for Ohio Bell, Ameritech, SBC, eventually retiring from AT&T. Charles is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Ann; daughter and son-in-law Wendy and Ken Waters; son Craig; grandchildren Alan, Gwendolyn and Elizabeth Waters; brother and sister-in-law Tom and Sherry Greathouse; and brother-in-laws Roy Pearrell and Richard Melecki. In addition many cousins, nieces and nephews remain to remember him. Charles was preceded in death by parents Charles and Marie and sisters Susie Greathouse and Janet Pearrell. Friends may call Monday, February 9 from 4-7pm at the Hummel Funeral Home, 500 East Exchange Street, Akron, OH. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Visitation of Mary Parish, Annunciation Church, (55 Broad St. Akron, Ohio) where Charles was baptized, confirmed and married, and where we will close the story of his life.
