Charles F. (Chuck) Brady passed away peacefully, on August 11, 2023. He was born in Akron, OH on December 18, 1930 to the late Charles F and Catherine Brady. He was proud of his service in the United States Air Force and his 66-year marriage to Annette.
He was preceded in death by his brother Kevin Brady, and daughter in law, Mary Brady. Chuck is survived by his wife Annette, children Charles (Susan), Nanci (David) Schlabig, and Brian (Mary), Brother Richard (Rosemary), Grandchildren Erin (Bryan) Arroyo, Jessica (Brad) Snow, Michael Schlabig, Brian (Anna) Schlabig, Emma Schlabig, Sarah Schlabig, Lauren (Gene) Bernardo, and Scott Brady, as well as great-grandson Asher Arroyo.
Known to his grandchildren as "Papa", Chuck attended every sporting event, school assembly, choir concert and any other event of which they were a part. His annual calls as Santa Claus to his children and grandchildren are legendary, as was his sense of humor and occasional Irish brogue. He was a long-time friend of Bill W.
The family would like to thank the following people for their loving care of Chuck in his final years: The office of Dr. Richard Dom Derra, Elizabeth Houglan, the team at Davita White Pond Dialysis, Dr. Molly Scantling, and the staff at Cleveland Clinic Akron General Justin T. Rogers Hospice Care Center.
Calling hours are Wednesday, August 16th from 10 am to 11 am at St. Sebastian's Catholic Church, 476 Mull Avenue, Akron, OH. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am, celebrated by Father Anthony Simone.
Donations in Chuck's name may be made to The Karg Family Foundation and St. Vincent DePaul Society, both at St. Sebastian's.
