Cecilia Simonds

Cecilia (Farrar) Clark Simonds, 86, of Akron, passed away peacefully on October 18, 2014. Cecilia was born to the late Mary and Raymond Farrar in Jackson, Ohio on December 11, 1927. She is preceded in death by her husband Bernard Joseph Clark, whose life was taken way to short Nov.1, 1954. Sisters Gloria, Jackie and Donna. Brothers Raymond, Robert and James. She is survived by sister Theresa Roseberry of CA, son Bernard Joseph Clark, daughters Cynthia Clark Porter (David), Georgine (James) Lawson. Grandchildren Angela (Andrew) Gonda, Abbigail (Joseph) McGuire, Drs. Jess (Adam) Abate, Drew Clark Porter and Thea Porter. Great grandchildren Joseph and James McGuire and Brody Gonda. So many special nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews. Cecilia was a lifelong member of St. Vincent Catholic Church. Cecilia was asked numerous times what would she like written about her when this time came. She was affiliated with numerous Societies, Guilds, Flights. She enjoyed Bridge, Golf and much more. She stated there was only one thing she wanted written. One simple thing. She wanted everyone to love their family and friends and to keep them close. She truly led by example. We will remember this as her legacy and will continue this legacy with great honor. The family would like to take this opportunity to thank those who have loved and helped Cecilia unconditionally through this journey, this life. We are forever grateful. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2014 at 9:30 AM at St. Vincent Catholic Church. Friends may call at Hummel Funeral Home, 500 E. Exchange St, on Tuesday, from 4 to 7 PM. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to the St. Vincent-St Mary Tuition Assistance Program. 15 N. Maple, Akron, Ohio 44303.
