Catherine McPherson

Catherine F. McPherson (Fuerst), born April 29, 1927, passed away peacefully on October 8, 2023 surrounded by her family. Catherine, better known as Kay, was a loving and supportive mother to 10 children, grandmother to 18 and great-grandmother to 25. Kay was a stay-at-home mother, preferring to be home to nurture and care for her family. Always having a houseful of family and friends was her greatest joy and happiness.

Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, to whom she was married for 65 years prior to his passing in 2013. She was also preceded in death by her son; Dennis McPherson, her daughter; Gail Staten, daughter-in-law; Barbara McPherson and granddaughter; Amanda McPherson. She is survived by 8 of her 10 children; Kenny McPherson, Eileen (Ted) Mathews, Russell McPherson, Larry (Janie) McPherson, Andy (Erin) McPherson, Mary Kay (Bruce) McCoy, Susie (Brian) Batten, and Danny (Kelly) McPherson. Also surviving Catherine are her daughter-in-law, Ruth Anne McPherson, and son-in-law, David Staten. She is survived by her loving grandchildren and great grandchildren as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their gratitude and thanks to the caregivers at the Cleveland Clinic Akron General Hospice Center in Fairlawn, OH. Family will receive friends and family on Friday October 13, 2023 at the Hummel Funeral Home located at 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, OH 44321 from 4-7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday October 14 at 1pm at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1676 S. Cleveland Massillon Rd. Copley, OH. Interment will be at Greenlawn Cemetery immediately following the service.
