VIEW VIDEO TRIBUTE   CAROL R. HORNING SHERWOOD As a result of an unexpected injury Carol R. Sherwood went home to be with her Lord on September 22 2005. She was surrounded by her loving family and friends during her last days. Carol was born on March 12 1939 in Detroit Michigan. She was a dedicated and loving wife mother and grandmother whose vibrant energy inspired all who knew her. She was considerate compassionate loyal and wise. She befriended all who met her and made each feel uniquely loved. Carol was absorbed in helping others and her very presence was encouragement. She began her career as an elementary school teacher and carried her passion for teaching through all facets of life. Carol was a devout follower of Christ. Carol graduated from Michigan State University with a master's degree in education and moved to Akron in 1974. Shortly thereafter Carol began a career in real estate. She soon achieved national recognition for her expertise and professionalism. Carol was active with the Akron Board of Realtors as well as the State and National Association of Realtors St. Hilary Catholic Church WITAN Fairlawn Women's Club and Fairlawn Country Club. She supported the Rotary Club and The Boy Scouts of America with her husband George. Carol is survived by her husband George children; Laura (Darby) Duryea Betsy (Jeffrey) Sartori Paul (Suzanne) Horning David (Patricia) Horning Jimmy (Tanya) Horning; step-children Brenda (Mike) Wadley Mark (Sheila) Sherwood; brother Freddie (Wanda) Vogt; 22 grandchildren: Trip and Grace Duryea; Gigi Lily and Chloe Sartori; Alexandra Victoria Ian Annelise Isabelle Luke Caroline and Katheryn Horning; Marissa and Nicholas Horning; August and Claudia Horning; Megan Amanda and Melissa Wadley; Nate and Lexie Sherwood. She is also survived by former husband Edward 'Ted' Horning. She will be missed dearly. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday September 27 2005 9:30 AM at St. Hilary Catholic Church 2750 W. Market Street Fairlawn OH 44333. Procession will form at the church. Interment in the Rose Hill Burial Park. Friends may call at the Hummel Funeral Home Copley 3475 Copley Road Copley on Monday September 26 2005 from 3-8 PM. In lieu of flowers Memorial donations may be made to the St. Hilary School (address above) or American Cancer Society 1900 W. Market St. Akron OH 44313 for ovarian cancer research.
