Carol Karakis

Carol Ann Karakis (Gerstel), 81, of Creston, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on January 28, 2024,surrounded by her children.

Born in Pittsburgh on September 28, 1942, Carol is preceded in death by her husband, George, and her siblings, Bob Gerstel and Marlene Long. George and Carol were married on October 19, 1963. Carol loved George and her family more than anything. Her church family was a close second. She loved gardening, hosting gatherings. and spending time at the beach. Carol always found the best in everyone she met and truly made the world a kinder place.

Carol is survived by her children Pete (Charlie), Chris (Angie), Nick (Kim), and Amanda (Caito); grandchildren, Emily (Andrew) Linder, Stefan, Dimitri (Katie), Jackson, Carson, Cassidy, Madison, Micah, and Macy; and her first great-grandchild, Emelia (Millie) Linder.

Friends and family can celebrate Carol's life at St. Thomas Eastern Orthodox Church Friday February 2, 2024 for an 11:00am Mass. Friends may call an hour and a half prior starting at 9:30am. After service, there will be a short ceremony at Copley Cemetery, followed by a celebration of life.

In lieu of flowers, Donations may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project or your local Humane Society.
