On the morning of May 5, 2023, Carla Joyce (Queen) Hartman went home to be with God after bravely fighting a long illness. Beloved mother to Keith Hartman (Anna), Jennifer Sheehan (Brian), Amanda Zrelak (Michael), and Kathryn Golden; loving grandmother to Lisa, Cloie, Tad, Dylan, David, Juri, Annie, Aguri, Sammy, Xander, and Mattie; dearest great-grandmother to Bella, Eddy, Landon, and Lewis; dear sister to Barbara Noonan and Patricia Frank; aunt of several nieces and nephews; and great aunt to several great nieces and nephews. Born in Akron, Ohio on August 7, 1945 to Roy & Ann (Targos) Queen, Carla graduated from Ellet High School in 1963, and earned her bachelor degree for teaching from the University of Akron. Carla was a teacher and substitute teacher for many years sharing her love of English with her students. She shared her joy of soccer through playing, coaching, and watching her children and grandchildren playing this sport over many years. She had a huge heart for animals, introducing her daughters to 4-H and caring for many different animals. Carla especially enjoyed her rabbits. Raising, showing, and known as a top breeder all over, creating lasting memories, and several dear friendships through this endeavor. She is preceded in death by her parents Roy and Ann, and her brothers - in - law, Dr. James Noonan, and James Frank.
The family would like to thank the staff at Altercare of Wadsworth and Gentiva Hospice for their care of our mother over the past year.
Calling hours will be 5-7pm Friday, May 26, at the Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, Ohio 44321. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research.
