Beverly Nelsen

Beverly Nelsen passed away May 27, 2024, at age 85. Beloved wife of John Nelsen, her high school sweetheart and husband for over 65 years. Loving mother of Kimberly (Michael) Kotter and Greg Nelsen. Dear grandmother to Olivia (Michael) Hochschwender and Jon Kotter. Great grandmother to Hudson and Hayden; Great, great grandmother to Penelope. Step great grandmother to Lane (Sam), Victoria (Jacob) and Jake.

Beverly attended Buchtel High School and the University of Akron. She worked at Ohio Brake and Clutch and as a realtor at Cutler Real Estate. Later, as a bookkeeper for the Sheet Metal Worker Local 33 Apprenticeship Program, she assisted John. Her grant seeking placement enabled the growth of the apprenticeship program in the Akron area and she was truly an integral partner to John in his professional life.

Beverly and John lived in the Copley area for many years and spent numerous winters in Estero, Florida. Bev especially enjoyed their weekend boat life while entertaining her children and grandchildren on their boat at Bay Point in Marblehead. She and John were members of the North Coast Triumph Association where they often shared memorable trips and car show awards. Beverly will be missed by family and friends and remain in our hearts forever. Her grandchildren will especially miss her humor and her infamous waffles.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, June 4 from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd. Copley, Ohio 44321. She will be laid to rest at a private family graveside service on Thursday, June 6.
