Beverly A. Bertka, age 66, passed away on September 4, 2016. Beve was born January 27, 1950 in Akron, Ohio to James and Beverly Gifford. She was a graduate of Buchtel High School and the University of Akron. Beve went on to become a teacher with the Copley/Fairlawn School District where she touched the lives of countless students. After retiring, she spent time volunteering at a local nursing home and on the Polar Express. Beve loved visiting Ocracoke Island, North Carolina, spending summers with her friends at the pool, Robert Frost poetry, It's A Wonderful Life, Cleveland Sports, her fur babies and most importantly her daughters and grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents; and her beloved partner, James Estep; she is survived by her daughters, Kristen (Dan Evens) Lang; Kelly (Mark Yacobucci) Midcap; grandchildren, Joshie L. and McKenna Midcap and Zachary, Abigail and Matthew Lang; brothers, Jim (Barbara) and Kevin (Becky) Gifford; special friend, Chrissy Spangler and many other family and friends. 'We cannot see her, but she is with us still. A Mother like ours is more than a memory. She is a living presence.' It was a wonderful life, Mom. Night-Night, Love you. Per Beve's wishes there will be no calling hours or services. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to PAWSibilities Humane Society of Great Akron or Wounded Warrior Project in her name.
