On November 9 long-time Akronite Betty Marie Van Nostran passed away peacefully with family present. She was born in Akron on October 18 1922 to Bridget and Lawrence Dugan. Betty Marie attended Sacred Heart Academy and later enrolled in Buchtel College. Pursuing an interest in the dramatic arts she met fellow thespian William Van Nostran while in college. They married during WWII while he served aboard ship in the Pacific. At war's end they became among the early 'settler's' of Akron's Nob Hill neighborhood raising their son Bill Jr. and daughter Lari Marie. Ever dramatic Betty Marie and her husband performed often at Weathervane Community Playhouse and Coach House Theatre occasionally appearing together. In the 1960s they left Akron while Bill pursued an advertising career that began at Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company in Akron. Both enjoyed the arts travel and companionship of friends relatives and three grandchildren. In later life Bill and Betty Marie took up square dancing advancing to the competitive level. After returning to Akron Betty Marie lived at Chambrel at Montrose for more than a decade. As she wished Betty Marie will be buried beside her husband at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery in Pennsylvania. She is remembered by son Bill and his wife Lynne in Akron; daughter Lari Marie Roebling in Philadelphia; niece Nancy and husband Mark Roesner in Copley and grandchildren Kirsten Van Nostran in Akron; Kendra Van Nostran in Los Gatos CA and Benjamin Roebling in Philadelphia.
