Betty Jo Gathagan 81 of Copley passed away peacefully on January 26 2012. She was a beloved mother grandmother great grandmother sister aunt and friend to many. Betty is preceded in death by her parents Austin P. Henson and Glenna E. (Clark) Henson; and her son-in-law David B. Smith. She is survived by her children Pamela L. and husband Robert L. Webster Jr; Jill L. Smith; and Mark J. Gathagan and wife Jane E. Gathagan; grandchildren Bethany Benko Jordan (Elizabeth) Webster Ryan Smith Justin Smith Byron (Christina) Webster Nathan Smith Jameson Smith Darren Webster Ashleigh (Wesley) Smith Conner Brooks Gathagan Bryce Gathagan and Brandon Gathagan; great-grandchildren Tryston Benko Bret Smith Summer Smith Taryn Benko and Kealeb Smith; brother Edward E. Henson and wife Dianne D. Henson; and many nieces and nephews. Betty was a longstanding member (15 years) of Crosspoint Alliance Church where she was involved as a deaconess member of Alliance Women's Group and Bible Study. She also volunteered at Akron General Health and Wellness Center and was an avid golfer at the Copley Greens Public Golf Course. Betty's life was centered on her ardent faith in Jesus Christ which produced an unflinching devotion to her family her church her friends and a cheerful positive approach to all of life's issues. Funeral Service will take place at 4:00 PM on Sunday January 29 2012 at Crosspoint Alliance Church 855 Rothrock Rd Copley. Family will receive friends at the church from 2-4 PM. Private interment will take place at a later date at Lakewood Cemetery Akron. Memorial donations may be made to Crosspoint Alliance Church 855 Rothrock Rd Copley OH 44321 in memory of Betty.
