Betty Cross

Betty Theis Cross 98 of The Village of St. Edward in Fairlawn formerly of Winton Avenue Akron; beloved sister of Anna Theis Hazeltine of Ashtabula. Preceded in death by her parents Karl and Elizabeth (Lieb) Theis; her brothers and sister Peter Andrew (Jean) and Catherine Theis her nephew Carl Theis and her niece Catherine Hazeltine Kerruish. She is survived by her sister as well as by many nieces and nephews and their families all of whom were blessed by her friendship and wise counsel. Betty was born on April 25 1909 in Hungary and came to this country with her brother and mother as a four year old to join her father in Akron. Betty gave many years of service to Akron Children's Hospital (now Akron Children's Medical Center) starting as an aide in 1928 and retiring as a surgical technician in 1972. She continued serving the Akron Children's community as a volunteer for another twenty years. Her family is grateful for the loving care and concern shown to Betty over many years by dear friend Nancy Grof. The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorial donations be made to Akron Children's Medical Center or The Village of St. Edward.
