Benjamin E. Kiehl, was born in Akron, OH on January 11, 1935. Ben passed away on July 17, 2018. Affectionately known as simply 'GP' by his four grandchildren, Ben was a loving brother, father, and grandfather who enjoyed daily walks in the Akron Metroparks, frequently accompanied by his many adoring grand dogs. An avid lover of nature, he could often be found working in his garden growing tomato plants and fixing up bird feeders. When he was not in the park, local library, or in his garden, Ben was supporting his children and grandchildren, attending countless games, concerts, ceremonies, and other events. While he often had a humorous comment about having to sit in 'hot bleachers for hours,' he loved attending these events, and showered his family in love, encouragement, and support. Ben enjoyed traveling and taking on new adventures, from family trips to the beach, to memorable European trips with his brothers. Ben was an adventurer. He was preceded in death by his mother, Edna; and sister, Lorna McNamara. He will be deeply missed by his siblings Ronald 'Mick' Kiehl of Akron, Margie Camnitz of Florida, and Ted McDavitt (Kathy) of California; his three daughters Kimberly Sabo (Ron), Valerie Thayer (Reg), Pamela Conover (Brian); and his four grandchildren Joshua, Madelaine, Alexis, and Abigail. Ben's kindness and generosity will be greatly missed. A private, family service will be held at a later time.
