Barbara Moats

December 31, 1937 — September 30, 2016

Barbara J. Moats passed away at her home in Medina, Ohio on September 30, 2016. Barbara was born in Cleveland, Ohio and was the daughter of Edwin and Margaret Stockard and sister to Beverly Stockard. She graduated from John Marshall High School in 1956. She met her husband William (Bill) Moats at the College of Wooster and they married on August 29, 1959. She finished her education at Ohio State University with a Bachelor's degree in Fine Arts in 1960. She and Bill then moved to Bath, Ohio where they had three children, Eric (Eileen), Andrew (Nancy), and Melissa (Dino LoPresti). Barbara was a loving wife, supporting her husband in so many ways. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother. Her friends were very dear to her and she enjoyed her knitting group, Bible, and Linus Quilt friendships. Barbara's passions were plentiful as she was a lover of nature, a wonderful cook, and a skilled gardener. Her most prolific talent was her ability to paint beautiful artwork that adorn her family's homes. She enjoyed to laugh, especially at herself which her family always nurtured! She was often charged as being so well organized, she was disorganized! A sticky note for every task! She is loved by all 10 grandchildren and one great-grandson. The family would like to thank the care team from Summa Home Hospice and her cancer care team at Summa at Lake Medina. Calling Hours will be on Friday, October 7, 2016 at Bath Church between the hours of 5:00pm and 8:00pm. Funeral Services will begin at 11:00am with Revs. Mark Frey and Maureen Webber officiating immediately followed by a luncheon on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at Bath Church, 3980 W Bath Rd, Akron, OH 44333. Private family interment in Moore's Chapel Cemetery. She asked that memorials be made to Akron Symphony Chorus, 92 N. Main St. Akron, OH 44308.
