Barbara Jo Lay ( Wigfield) 85 passed away peacefully August 22, 2014 at Magnolia Village. She was born August 17, 1929 in Akron, Ohio. She was married to Virgil Lay (63 years) Jan.25, 1946 until his passing March 10, 2009. She was preceded in death by Son David Lee Lay, parents Mae Schultz and George Wigfield. Survived by her two Daughters, Patricia (Ed) Speedy of Akron, Diana (Chuck) Johnston of Missouri. Known as 'MIMI' to her Grandchildren Karen Leitch, Eddie (Julianne) Speedy, Brian (Jessica) Speedy Ryan (Misty) Speedy of Akron, William Johnson of Missouri, David (Lurleen) Lay, Christine (Kevin) Smith of Florida, 15 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great Grandbaby. Sisters Georgia Shinaver, Judy (Dave) Pearson, Jacquie Semerdjian, Brother Ted (Dolores) Perrine. Barbara had many loves from her cats, to driving her Mustangs wearing a Purple scarf. She also sang in her husband's band, her formal singing name was Jodie Lee she was a member in good standing of the American Folk Musicians Association till 1958. Barbara was a strong woman always thinking of others, always wanting the best for her family & friends, she will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Want to give Most Agape Love to my sister Patty and brother-in-law Ed for all the moments they spent with our Mother. Barbara was one of Jehovah's Witnesses from S. Akron Congregation. She had favorite scripture Isa. 41: 10 & 13, Ps. 104:1-35 Let me Praise Jehovah, Praise Jah! Cremation has taken place. There will be a public memorial at the Kingdom Hall at 1814 S. Main St. Akron, Ohio on Saturday September 13, 2014 at 5:00 pm.
