Barbara (Bunny) Ballance
October 9, 1942- September 30,2021
Barbara was born into a theatrical family that was very involved at the Weathervane Playhouse in the early days at Copley Rd. Bunny became very active in theater at an early age. After attending Kent State and The American Academy in New York, Bunny acted professionally for many years. After moving back to Akron in the early 70's, Bunny founded Akron Children's Theatre, which eventually became The Magical Theatre in Barberton and later The Illusion Factory. Her productions, classes, and school training programs touched the lives of countless children, families, and educators in Northeast Ohio for over 45 years.
Preceded in death by her parents, Evelyn and Marvin Ballance; and her beloved husband and artist Raymond Packard. She is survived by her brother, Jack Ballance and his wife Stephanie; daughter, Miranda Garrard, son in -law, Chuck Garrard; grandchildren, Cameron and Christian Hinton; stepsons, Raynard, Vincent and Damon Packard, step grandchildren Sonia, Magda and Corey Packard and his fiancé Leah Cohen and great granddaughter, Lzzy.
