Arline Balch of Akron, OH, 86, passed away Friday May 11th, 2018, after a short battle with cancer. Arline was married to her husband Bill, who passed away just last October, for 59 years. She was born in Akron, OH. She graduated from St Vincent's high school and was a secretary before she married Bill. She was a member of St Sebastian's Church. Arline's favorite color was pink- not just any pink, 'the right pink'. She loved flowers and planted the most beautiful geraniums every year around the family home. Arline had an impeccable sense of style and taste but nothing was more important to her than God and her family. Arline was one of 7 children, she and her family survived through some hard times during the depression. No one showed as much grace and strength through her husband's long battle with Parkinson's disease. She started chemo just 2 weeks before Bill died, and resumed her treatments just 2 days after his burial. Beloved wife of Bill for 59 years, Arline leaves four daughters, Erin Vollmer, Suzanne Balch, Lisa Kleines (Bob), and Belinda Darr (John) and six grandchildren Bill, Sara, Susie, Samantha, Nicholas and Isaac. Our special thanks to Beth Sutor who cared for Mom every day with the utmost compassion, respect and humor, and to the nurses at Summa Hospital's Palliative Care Center - there truly is a special place in Heaven for all of you, you are very special people. Arline's family and friends will celebrate her life, wearing pink, at St Sebastian's Church on Saturday, May 19th with calling hours from 10:00 - 11:00 am and a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 am. Burial will take place immediately after Mass at Holy Cross Cemetery. Donations can be made to St Sebastian's church and the American Cancer Society www.cancer.org.
