Anthony Caruso

March 1, 1954 — January 22, 2024

Anthony J. Caruso, PhD, 69 years old, passed away from complications due to Parkinson's disease. He fought this disease for 28 years with tenacity, grace, and humor. He is preceded in death by his father, Anthony, Sr, his mother, Josephine, his brother, Michael, and his beloved dog, Chester.

For those who knew Tony, they enjoyed his wit, sense of humor, and his intellect. Before his retirement, his professional contribution to help those who stuttered was a passion he pursued for many years while working at Kent State University.

He spent his youth in upstate New York in, on and under the water. As an adult, his love for swimming, boating and fishing was spent in a cottage in Vermont on a small mountain lake. There, he enjoyed not only all water activities but the camaraderie of life long friendships.

Tony will be remembered by his wife, Denise, a large extended family, many colleagues and a host of friends. A small memorial service will be held at his cottage in Vermont in the summer, where he will be laid to rest in a place he referred to as his "kingdom". Please make a donation to your favorite charity in Tony's name.
