Anna Lee Cleary

Grace and kindness were the unwavering qualities of Anna Lee Cleary (nee Fiely), age 97, of Akron and Copley. The precious wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister and friend died peacefully on March 28, 2023.

Beloved wife of 67 years to the late Dr. Francis A. Cleary; dear and loving mother to Francis (Tracy), Michael (Robin), Thomas (Patricia), Cathleen Hawes (late Chris), Ann (late Angie), Donald (Margaret), Joan (Ken Sargent), James (Eileen); 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Born in Wadsworth, Ohio, Anna Lee graduated from Wadsworth High School in 1943 and magna cum laude from Marygrove College in Detroit, Michigan in 1947. After graduation, Anna Lee worked as an executive secretary in New York City for the Ohio Salt Company and Republic Steel in Cleveland. (1949-50)

Then, she dedicated the next 73 years of her life to loving and caring for her family.

Anna Lee is preceded in death by her parents Freda and Lawrence Fiely, her husband Francis, her brother Donald Fiely, grandson David Cleary, son-in-law William Christopher Hawes and daughter-in-law Angela Speidel.

Mother kept her sharp mind, and her grace, poise and kindness until the end. Anna Lee's legacy and gifts live on in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 pm on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Rd. Copley. A rosary service will begin at 3:30 pm at the funeral home. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at St. Sebastian Catholic Church, 476 Mull Ave. Akron. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, 100 Waterloo Rd. Akron.
