Anna J. Bessemer (Szalay) 96, passed away peacefully at her home on November 8, 2019. Born September 17, 1923 she was the oldest of three children of Hungarian immigrant parents. Anna grew up on a nearby farm in Akron that later was included in Bessemer Farms that she and her husband, Gene, ran until his death in 2002. Anna continued the farming operation and enjoyed working on the farm until her retirement at age 88. She was the last surviving member of the 'Sewing Club' that she joined 71 years ago and she also enjoyed being a member of the Northampton Hill and Vale Garden Club and the Norton Homemakers. Anna dearly loved her family and is preceded in death by her husband Eugene, and her brother Steve Szalay. She is survived by her sister Helen Brummel, loving children Donald (Carol) Bessemer, Barbara (James) Daisher, and Karen Lovenguth; her grandchildren Jennifer Marando (Henry Drechsler), Crissy Kolarik, Stephen Daisher (Melissa), Ryan Daisher, Keith Daisher (Maria), five nieces and nephews, and 13 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her special friends Barbara Cannon, Coletta Craddock, Janet Mc Neill, Lola Love, as well as Christina and Jennifer, the wonderful nurses from Summa Hospice. Memorial donations may be made in Anna's name to Summa Hospice, 1077 Gorge Ave. Akron, 44310. Arrangements have been entrusted to Hummel Funeral Homes & Crematories, with burial at Copley Cemetery.
