Ann Jacobs Stout of Akron, OH, and former longtime resident of Burlington, VT, passed away on July 8, 2015 after a long illness. She was 86. Born in Norristown, PA on October 13, 1928 to George 'Doc' and Alice Jacobs, she moved to Burlington when her father was hired by St. Michael's College in Winooski, VT. She graduated from Trinity College in Washington, DC and Burlington, VT with a BA in English Lit and History. She later earned her Master's degree in Education. She taught Language Arts at Edmund's High School in Burlington. She volunteered as a teacher at the International Institute of Akron, teaching English as a second language, and for Project Read and Pregnancy Care. She loved to paint, write poetry, do needlework and cook. She shared a lifetime love of gardening with her beloved husband Jack, who preceded her in death in 2004. She is survived by five children, Ann, Thea, Jonathan, Lisa and Geoffrey (Julie) Akey; four grandchildren, Brandon, Joe, Samuel and Theodore; lifetime friend Nancy Parker in Burlington; devoted friend and caregiver Sheila Meyer; and many treasured nieces and nephews in the East. Ann's family would like to thank, with deepest gratitude, the dedicated staff of Summa at Home, in particular Deanna, Joyce and Michelle; and caregiver Amanda, for their loving care of Ann and her family over the last several years. A Mass will be held at St. Hilary Parish, 2750 W. Market St., Fairlawn, OH 44333, Friday July 17th at 11:00 AM.
