Ann Halfen

Ann C. Halfen nee Acquarone died June 10 2013 at Bath Manor. Ann was born July 17 1928 in Baltimore MD and lived most of her life in Akron where her parents moved when she was a young child. She attended Fairlawn Grade School Buchtel High School and graduated in 1951 from The University of Akron. In later years Ann attended The University of Minnesota where she began work on a Master's degree in Library Science. Ann completed that degree at Kent State University and obtained her teacher's certificate. She worked at The University of Minnesota's library Dover High School in Dover OH and then had a 25 year career with the Akron Public Schools as a school librarian at West Junior High School and Garfield High School. Ann is survived by her children Janice (John) Ashley of Green Barbara Halfen of Akron Robert (partner Jane Wyatt) Halfen of Green and her sister-in-law Joyce Root of Jenkintown PA. She was predeceased by one son who died in infancy Richard C. Halfen and her former husband Robert C. Halfen. Per Ann's wishes cremation has taken place. No services will be held. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to all the caregivers at both Bath Manor and the Hospice of Summa for their wonderful care of their mother during these past months.
