Anita Slawter

Mrs. Anita Joyce Slawter, age 92, passed away on September 11, 2022. She was born in Akron, Ohio to Chester and Josephine Greene. Anita married Gerald B. Slawter on May 22, 1971 in Akron, and he and his two children survive to cherish her memory.

Anita is also survived by her sisters, Margaret Rhodes and Jewel Reynolds; her brother, Charles Greene; sister-in-law Gwen Greene; and many nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Anita was preceded in death by her brother, Chester Greene; brother-in-laws, William Reynolds M.D., Donald Rhodes, and Ray Slawter; and sister-in-laws, JoAnn Greene and Jane Slawter.

Anita worked for Firestone Tire and Rubber for 44 years in the International Division. She was an avid amateur golfer who had the opportunity to play with many pros at the Firestone Country Club. Anita was the type of person who devoted her life to her family and friends; always being there for others. She was steadfast in caring for her mother Josephine. From our earliest memories to our last, Anita will always be remembered for her unwavering smile. Her devotion to her husband and family were forefront all the days of her life.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, September 15, 2022 from 12 to 1 PM at the Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Road, Copley. A funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM at the funeral home. A burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park, 3653 W. Market Street, Akron.
