Andrew Lewis Sanford age 81 of Peninsula passed away August 22 2013 with his loving wife by his side. He was born on January 30 1932 in Tallmadge to the late Clifford and Helen (Nidy ) Sanford. Andy was a 1950 graduate of Tallmadge High School. He served our country during the Korean War in the Air Force and then sailed the world for two years. Andy was an accomplished paint contractor muralist and artist. He was a founding member of Whiskey Painters of America. Andy was an avid sports fan and enjoyed watching his nieces and nephews at their sporting events. Along with his wife Rosanne he lived and worked in Yuma Arizona Alaska and The West for 25 years before moving back to the Akron area. Preceded in death by his sister Delia Sanford; Andy is survived by his wife of 42 years Rosanne (Trecaso) Sanford; sisters Juanita (Harold) Mullins and Shirley Booth; mother-in-law Sylvia O. Trecaso brothers-in-law Michael (Jennifer) Paul Stephen (Evelyn) Ralph (Joan) John S. Trecaso; sister-in-law Marianne Trecaso; Uncle John A. Trecaso and Aunt Lydia V. Barkey; children Michael and David Sanford and Cheryl Wolfe; several grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to thank all of Andy's caregivers especially Lillian and Monica. Calling hours will be Sunday August 25 4-8 p.m. at the Hummel Funeral Home Akron Chapel (500 E. Exchange St.). Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church (6034 S. Locust St. Peninsula Ohio 44264). Private interment will take place at the convenience of the family.
