Alma Parks

Alma L. Parks 'Jonie ' the beloved wife of Walter C. Parks passed away peacefully on Thursday April 28 2011 in Tampa FL. Formerly of Akron and Massillon Alma was born on September 24 1923 in Walton NY to the late Everett and Shirley (Beers) Johnson. She and Walter met in college shortly after WWII. They married in 1946 and celebrated 56 wonderful years of marriage. Together they raised 4 children; Charles R. Parks Sherie Parks Janie Parks and Tomas (Nancy) Parks. Alma was known for being a career educator. She retired from Massillon City Schools as the Title One Reading Specialist. She loved her art and was awarded numerous awards for her colored pencil drawings. Alma is also survived by 11 grandchildren and soon to be 4 great grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday May 4 2011 from 7-8 PM at Faith Lutheran Church 2726 W. Market St. with Pastor Jean Hansen officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Greater Akron YMCA.
