Alice Skoda

Alice M Skoda, (nee: Mann), age 93, passed away June 23, 2015 at the Village of Saint Edwards's Skilled Care Facility. Alice was born March 26, 1922 in Akron, Ohio and lived all her life in Akron, Ohio area. She was a long time member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Cuyahoga Falls and then a long time member of Saint Hilary Catholic Church in Fairlawn, Ohio. Preceded in death by parents Xavier and Augusta Mann and beloved husband of 54 years, William Skoda. Survived by sons, Dale (Kathi), Dennis (Donna) and daughter, Donna Jean Heller and granddaughters Megan (Jon) and Molly (Andrew), great grandchildren, Cailyn and Mackenzie. Also, survived by brother, Richard Mann, (Virginia deceased), sisters, Evelyn Thompson (husband Ira) of Noblesville, Indiana and sister, Jeanette Hengle (Frank deceased) of Akron and her sister-in-law, Irene Steltz (Robert deceased) of Medina, Ohio and many nieces and nephews. Alice enjoyed friends, family and her faith more than anything resulting in a lunch club that met for 45 years on a monthly basis. She enjoyed gardening, flowers and kept an immaculate yard and garden. Alice spent her last five years in the care and comfort of Saint Edward's Skilled Care Facility. The family would like to deeply thank the staff, especially Kim, Shirley, Sandy, Anna and Gary and all the other nursing team members for the kindness, generosity and support over the last five years. The family will receive friends at Hummel Funeral Home, 3475 Copley Road, Copley, Ohio 44321 on Friday, June 26, from 4-7 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 9:30 am Saturday, June 27 at St. Hilary Catholic Church, 2750 West Market Street, Fairlawn, Ohio 44333. Interment to immediately follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
