Alice M. May, age 93, passed away peacefully on May 7, 2017. She was born on February 26, 1924 in Akron to the late Paul and Mary Petrasek. Preceded in death by her husband, Donald G. May, and 8 siblings; she is survived by her children, Donald (Lois Nicholson) May, Marilyn May, Becky (Ron) Miller, James (Shirley) May and David (Lauren) May; 14 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren. Alice was raised and lived the majority of her adult life in the Firestone Park area of Akron. She earned her Bachelor (English) and Master (Home Economics and Family Ecology) Degrees from the University of Akron, going back to school after she raised her children. She was an active member of St. Peter's Episcopal Church and St. Paul's Episcopal Church. She also devoted time and energy in support of Keep Akron Beautiful and was involved in Akron politics. Alice was an avid writer and enjoyed reviewing books for the Cleveland Plain Dealer. Unwavering Faith, a deep devotion to Family, commitment to Education and many, many Friendships - Alice truly served those around her, made a difference in many ways in this world and will be dearly missed by all who had the good fortune of knowing and sharing Life with her. The family would like to thank the staff and friends of the Western Reserve Masonic Community for their loving care and friendship. Memorial Service will be 11:00am Saturday, May 20, at St. Mark's Episcopal Church, 146 College St. Wadsworth, Ohio, where family and friends may call one hour prior to the service. Interment will be 11:15am Monday, May 22, at Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery. Please arrive no later than 11:00am. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Western Reserve Masonic Community.
