Alberta Schumacher

Alberta P. Schumacher entered eternal life on January 19, 2023. She was born in Akron, Ohio to Angelo and Rosa (Vitone) Petrarca who preceded her in death as did her sister Elizabeth Petrarca Panella and her brother Vincent J. Petrarca. She was also preceded in death by her husband Harold E. Schumacher in 2007 to whom she was married 42 years.

Alberta received her Bachelor of Arts degree from Notre Dame College and attended the University of Akron for her master's work. She began her teaching career at St. Vincent High School before becoming a long time teacher in the Akron Public Schools at Perkins Junior High School, Jennings Middle School, Buchtel High School and Litchfield Middle School.

She leaves to mourn and remember her son Mark and daughter-in-law Jennifer and their children Hannah, Matthew, Michael and Mary and her daughter and son-in-law Angela and John Grucella and their daughter Halle. She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Church and St. Sebastian Church.

Friends may call TODAY, Sunday, January 22, 2023 from 2-4pm at Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY, 3475 Copley Road. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday at 11am at St. Sebastian Catholic Church. A private burial will be held in Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery.
