Alan Sawan

Alan Sawan passed away February 16, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. He was born April 17, 1951 in Akron, Ohio to Alim S. Sawan and Theophilia 'Lili' Lavinskas Sawan. Alan graduated from Buchtel High School and attended the University of Akron. As a young man, he had devoted his life to golf and his dream of becoming a pro. He was also an accomplished pilot who was passionate about flying. He was employed as a manager of a Radio Shack store in Fairlawn for many years until his retirement in 2013. A lifelong resident of Akron, he never expressed a desire to live elsewhere. He was the only brother of Samuel Sawan of San Rafael, CA. He also leaves behind a niece and nephew, Lili and Sam, Jr., and many cousins and friends. Internment will be TODAY, Saturday February 18, at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Section 26, at 12:30 PM. A luncheon will follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Hospice Care Center at 3358 Ridgewood Road, Akron, OH.
