Al Monzo

Al Monzo 97 of Copley passed away November 13 2012. He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years Concetta Monzo; and his daughter Elizabeth White. Al is survived by his children Mary Jean Giles Alphonzo (Frieda) Monzo and Bill Monzo; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He retired as Captain from the Akron Police Department after 36 years of service. Al proudly served his country during WWII as a Staff Sergeant in the United States Army. He was active in a variety of sports especially enjoying handball. Funeral Services will take place at 1:00 PM Saturday November 17 2012 at Hummel Funeral Home COPLEY 3475 Copley Rd. Interment in Holy Cross Cemetery. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 4-8 PM.
