Frances Rebenack

Frances Strabley Krieger Rebenack, an avid traveler, took the trip of her lifetime on Tuesday, January 21, and arrived at her final destination, in Heaven with God, at age 98 years and 10 months. Frances was born March 21, 1915 in Akron, Ohio, and graduated from St. Mary High School in 1933. She was the last surviving member of her class. She loved sports and music, playing softball for the Firestone girls team, as well as playing the sax and drums in Akron's all-girl orchestra, The Colleens. Fran was a cab driver in WWII, then spent many years as Paymaster at Motor Cargo/Consolidated Freightways. She retired as Clerk-Treasurer of the Akron Public Library in 1977. Off and running at full speed for nearly all of her almost 99 years, Fran truly was a Jill of All Trades, and Master of most of them. Fran was a victim of incurable wanderlust and loved foreign travel, but her most treasured memories were of her visits to all 50 of our own United States. She enjoyed working with stained glass and playing pinochle, but her main hobbies were golf and golf, Winter and Summer. She golfed for 76 years, and considered golfing at St. Andrews one of the highlights of her life, at age 81. Fran was preceded in death by her husband John in 2006 and her stepson Charles in 2005. She is also enjoying now the company of her Mother, Father and two brothers, and holding tight her four great-grand angels. Thank you Mom, that gives us still here great comfort. She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter and loving son-in-law, Dianne and Daniel Demko of Copley, grandchildren Michael and Christine Demko, Christopher and Jenny Demko and Julie and Eric Miller all of Columbus, and Scott and Annmarie Demko of Copley. She also leaves thirteen great-grandchildren- Leah, Erin, Katie and Tori Demko, Myla, Miles, Georgia and Jenna Demko, and Morgan, Jacob, Abby, Noelle and Daniel Miller, all of Columbus, nephews Kenneth Strabley of Norton, and daughter of her heart, Doreen Chester of Spring Hill, TN. Also surviving are cousins, Bernadine Bar, Seattle, Mary Ann Cook, Tallmadge and Dick Miller, Beachwood, and extended family, her two oldest and much loved friends Vera Pedigo and Rosann Wright, and her Partner in Perpetual Mirth, Chuckles, aka Ruthanne Pelyhes. Fran's relatives and friends will sorely miss her and her sense of humor, especially her Bag Ladies/Fairway Friends golf buddies and her weekly pinochle group, both of nearly 50 years. She so loved them all. I never thought I'd do this but we can't leave out her much loved cat GiGi, as she will miss her too. We wish to thank so many faithful for their visits and cards, and for their love, concern, prayers and compassionate care during the past few years, especially Mom's very special original caregivers Shirley Dukes and Jeni Huffman. She never forgot them and dearly loved them both. Also we cannot praise highly enough the staffs of Arden Courts of Bath, The Orchards of Ridgewood and Crossroads Hospice, where God's earthly angels are out in full force, 24/7. Fran dearly loved each and every one of you all for taking such good care of her. Her family loves all of you as well. Alert to Arden Courts staff: We heard that Fran is now singing at the top of her lungs in heaven and that there may be a plan brewing to send her back! Please celebrate her life with us on Saturday, January 25, 2014 at 11:00 AM Mass at Guardian Angels Catholic Church, 1686 S. Cleve-Mass Rd. Copley, with calling hours AT THE CHURCH 9:30-11:00 AM, Father James Kramer will officiate. Cremation has taken place and family burial at Holy Cross Cemetery will be private. Colorful GOLF attire is encouraged for this celebration, or please wear red, Red or RED if you have it, Fran's favorite color!
